Thirty-Seven Weeks Old

An unusual week around here:
Last Sunday night, I woke up crying just before 10pm (I had gone to sleep around 8:45).  My parents let me cry for about ten minutes then mommy came in to try to calm me down.  About the time I would calm down, she would put me back in my crib, and I would start wailing again.  This happened several times.  She checked my diaper and I was still all dry so that wasn't the reason. I just could not be calmed down.  Finally, she gave up and we slept in the guest room together that night.  I slept quite well with my mommy by my side (but mommy says she didn't get much sleep at all with all my moving around).
Then on Tuesday night, I did the same thing at about 3:30 in the morning.  This time mommy slept through hearing it on the monitor, but daddy heard it and woke up.  After letting me cry for a while, he came in and rocked me.  But, again I wouldn't go back to sleep on my own.  Mommy finally woke up to all my commotion and said that daddy could go back to sleep since he had to work the next day.  So, we again slept in the guest bed.
Fearing that they were allowing me to get into a bad habit, mommy and daddy have let me cry in the night and go back to sleep on my own.  I've slept pretty well the rest of the week.

With NaiNai out of town (she's getting to play with my new cousin in Texas for a whole month), mommy has been a bit more lonely this week.  We've made lots of trips to the grocery store, Wal-mart, Sams Club, etc.. because mommy says we've gotta get some time out of the house.  It has also been fun to Skype with some family and friends this week.

I am adjusting to my new tooth and think another bottom tooth is on its way soon.  I love walking around the house, holding on to mommy's or daddy's hands.  I can almost pull up from a sitting position to a standing position on my own. I love standing on my own, holding on to anything my height (mommy and daddy are discovering that there isn't much around the house my height though).  I am trying to decide if I want to bother with the whole crawling thing or if I'll just skip it and walk instead - I'm still trying to make up my mind (mommy says that's ok b/c I'm a girl and we girls get to change our mind).

My new foods this week included cauliflower, some chicken salad (mommy mashed some chicken for me and added a bit of mayonnaise, mustard, and lemon pepper - I really like the new exciting flavor of this stuff), and wheat bread.

Enjoy the pictures and videos:

These days I like standing outside my jumper
almost as much as jumping inside it :)
Our night-time routine. After eating, I get a bath:

Then, I get all lotioned up:

Next is reading time:

Then we say my night-time prayers, mommy rocks me and sings to me, and then puts me in my crib where I usually go right to sleep.

Thirty-Six Weeks Old

My First Easter - We celebrated together as a family by first attending Christian Church of Clarendon Hills (where we've been going the last few months).  Then I took a nap as we drove to attend another service at Parkwood Community Church (where my parents attended for quite a while).  After the worship services, I participated in my first Easter Egg Hunt.  Mommy and daddy have quite a few photos to commemorate the event - so I hope you enjoy some of my funny faces as much as they do.

My first tooth has finally broken through the gums.  How did mommy discover this?  Of course, I let her know about its arrival while breastfeeding.  She followed its discovery with a loud OUCH.  But after she felt the jagged edge with her finger, she had this huge grin on her face for the next 30 minutes.  She says this is another big milestone, and that I am growing up so fast.

There were also a couple of first foods this week: cottage cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, and some boiled chicken.  And, mommy made me some more green beans, carrots, sweet potatoes, and butternut squash  - meaning she cooked them and pureed them for me.  She said this should be the last time she needs to do this as I'll not be needing to eat pureed food for much longer - soon, she will just mash up stuff with a fork and then I can chew it up.

I told mommy not to talk too much (not to type too much) because I had so many great/funny pictures to share this week.  So, ENJOY!!

Thirty-Five Weeks Old

Sorry this is late - we were busy celebrating the resurrection (that's a BIG word for an 8-month old) of Jesus! :)
(because 35 weeks was on Saturday, Easter pictures will have to wait until next week -- so that will give you something to anxiously await :)

It's been an interesting week around here - some days were pretty rough and others were really good.  Mommy and daddy cannot figure it out.  But, I haven't slept as well this week - for naps or at night - so that is probably why I've been a bit on the fussy side.

On Tuesday night, mommy and daddy gave me too much water to drink at dinner and during my bath.  And, I let them know this as they put me in my bed to sleep.  I began crying (and usually mommy will just let me cry for a while until I go on to sleep - but within a couple of minutes she could tell this cry was different) so mommy came in to check on me.  As she picked me up, she noticed  I was all wet on the face.  I had spit up my dinner and all that water they gave me.  So, then mommy and daddy had to clean me up, change my clothes, change my sheets and get me calmed down so I could finally go to sleep.  I think they learned their lesson about giving me too much water to drink at bed time.

Friday was my 8-month birthday.  So, mommy and I celebrated by going to lunch with NaiNai (daddy's mom) at a Chinese buffet.  I mostly ate my baby food, but mommy and NaiNai did let me try a few things from the buffet (tofu, noodles, and even a small taste of apple pie).  I also got to sit in a restaurant high chair for the first time (check out the pictures below :)

Mommy helped me stand up in my crib after my nap
then I was able to hold on and stand up on my own :)
I'm a BIG girl now :)

Play time with daddy after he gets home from work

Sometimes he even lets me play with his watch :)

Mommy got me a balloon at the Dollar Tree because she knows I love playing with them:

I'm such a big girl now:

Thirty-Four Weeks Old

It's been a pretty good week around here. Mommy says that I am becoming so much more fun and sweet (although I didn't think I could get any sweeter).  I am laughing more, sleeping better, and, in general, just less fussy and more pleasant.

I have a new cousin!! :)  Uncle Henry, Auntie Althea, and Cousin Natalie (who live in Texas) welcomed Nathan Henry Lee into the family on Monday, March 26th.  I sure hope to get to meet him soon!

Other news this week:  I now like peas (well, maybe like is too strong of a word, but I do eat them without making strange faces).  I like laughing at my mommy when she sneezes or coughs which is a lot these days due to allergies (see videos below of her faking it to make me laugh).  I like rolling all around the room ~ mommy wonders if I'll ever crawl or just roll everywhere :).

Caitlyn, I am your FATHER  :)

I am laughing and playing a lot more these days

Mommy loves this look I give her when she gets me up from my nap

I had fun talking to Nana, Poppy, and Auntie Celeste through Skype  this week
And some video of the week:
