Fifty Weeks Old

It has been another fun and exciting week around here. I continue to take more and more steps on my own - and I much prefer walking to crawling - it's so much faster.  That sleeping late last week was for the birds - I am back to waking up around 6:30am most days.  The early bird gets the worm, right?  :)
My second top tooth is poking its way through - so I now have 4 teeth.  I can also now point out my nose, ears, eyes and sometimes mouth when Mommy says them.  Mommy is trying to teach me to wave hello and good-bye but I haven't mastered that skill just yet.
On Wednesday, Mommy and I met a play group at a nearby park. This park had a splash pad - and even though Mommy and I were not prepared (no swimsuits), I enjoyed playing in the water just a bit.
Thursday was Mommy's birthday (she says that she turned 29 again, but Daddy told me that she's really 40 years young :).  We met some of Mommy's friends at a restaurant - and Mommy dressed me in a cute Red & Black outfit. She kept saying, "Go Dawgs!" and that I would know what this means soon enough.
Daddy had the day off on Saturday, so we went to another nearby park with a splash pad.  They took my clothes off and had me playing in just my diaper - and I did NOT like that.  The water was too cold without with my clothes.  But, after they put my onesie back on, Daddy and I played in the water - and I liked it a lot more.

Forty-Nine Weeks Old

(Mommy is trying to figure out why some of the text has a white background.  But, she cannot figure it out.  If any of you know, please help her out.)
You gotta check out my video below of my amazing walking skills.  I am getting better and better each day.  Watch out world - I will be a force to be reckoned with soon. :)  And, Mommy and Daddy better me-proof the house SOON!
Mommy and Daddy think that I must have an allergy to something.  I have a rash on the back of my neck but they have not been able to pin-point what I'm allergic to yet.  Now that I am eating all sorts of things its a little bit more difficult to figure out.  It's not a huge deal just yet - as it doesn't cause me to lose sleep or seem to bother me too bad.
On Wednesday, Mommy and I met  a group of ladies and their kids at a park for a play group.  It was really fun (for me AND especially for Mommy) to get out of the house and have fun with other Mommies and Kiddos.  I, of course, loved getting to play on a swing once again.
Mommy is hoping that I am transitioning to a new sleeping schedule.  For 2-3 nights this week, I've slept almost 11 hours (my usual has been about 9.5).  The difference is that now when I wake up in the morning (around 6:00 or 6:30), Mommy just lets me play in my crib for about 20-30 minutes.  Then I fall back to sleep for another 45 minutes to an hour. So, Mommy and Daddy are enjoying me waking up around 7:30 and are hoping I keep it up.  I also seem to take better naps on these days when I get more night-time sleep.  But, of course, I have to keep Mommy guessing a bit and not do it every day. :)

Enjoy my 49th week in photos and video:
Mommy put this silly bow on my head.
I kept trying to pull it off, but once she distracted me, I forgot all about it.

Just for you, Auntie Celeste :)

I'm learning to dance so that I can teach Mommy & Daddy:

Forty-Eight Weeks Old

YIPPEEE!!! - I turned 11 months old this past week!  Only a few more weeks and I will be ONE.  Mommy and Daddy say the time has flown by.  As for me, I am just enjoying life and learning new things all the time.

I am a cruising.  I will walk anywhere, as long as there is something for me to hold on to.  One day this week, Mommy was in the kitchen preparing my lunch and I "cruised" from my jumper to the coffee table to the couch to the end table.  Mommy is having to watch me so much closer these days.

Last Sunday afternoon, we went to a nearby park for a walk and for me to swing.  I love playing in a swing and am beginning to pitch a little fit when it is time to go.  Of course, this was all before the heat wave of this past week. We couldn't go to the park the rest of the week because it was so hot out - so we've spent lots of time playing indoors.

We didn't really do anything special for July 4th - although it was really nice having Daddy home for the day.  We just hung out around the house and then went out for some BBQ for dinner.

My new favorite food this week is guacamole.  Mommy has learned that I'll eat my broccoli and my green beans a whole lot faster (meaning I don't play with it as much) if she'll put a spoonful of guacamole in with it.  Mmmmm. :)   I also had my first taste of ice-cream this week - I liked it ok.

Forty-Seven Weeks Old

Quite a momentous week here!

I took my first steps this week (unassisted - no hands!! :).  Daddy and Mommy came in to my room to play with me after my morning nap on Monday.  They were both sitting on the floor, and I would walk two or three steps between them.  Thankfully, they were there to catch me because I was more interested in running than walking slow and my feet just couldn't keep up.  I've done it a few other times this week, but for the most part, I think walking alone is over-rated.  Who wouldn't prefer to walk holding hands with Daddy or Mommy?? :)

On Friday, Mommy, Daddy, and I drove out to Wheaton to a reunion for Vienna Christian School (Mommy taught there from 1996-2000).  It was fun to meet a few of Mommy's colleagues from her time there.  I especially enjoyed the buffet dinner and getting to try all sorts of things off of Mommy's plate (roasted potatoes, lasagna, buttered bread, and best of all - a bite or two of strawberry shortcake -mmmm!).  Mommy says I have a birthday coming up real soon and that on that day I'll get my very own cupcake.  I can hardly wait!

My 3rd tooth is finally making its appearance.  It's on the top and is a bit painful.  I've woken up Mommy and Daddy in the night a few times as I don't like the way this feels.

Enjoy some videos of the week:
I love walking!!

Dancing machine (Mommy and Daddy are hoping that I'll teach them a few moves since neither of them are good at dancing):
