Twenty One Months

What a busy month it has been.  But oh so fun!!

In early April, Mommy and I went to North Carolina for a weekend (We left Daddy at home to study for his Boards.)  We stayed for a few days with a friend of Mommy's from when she lived in East Asia - Mary Elizabeth Maynard.  They have a little girl about the same age as me, Blissy.  We had so much fun playing together.  And, it was nice to enjoy some warmer weather for a change, too.  On that Saturday, Mommy left me with the Maynards while she drove up to Virginia to attend the wedding of one of her dear friends, Lynn Lipp McBride.  That was the first time that I went to bed at night with someone other than Mommy or NaiNai -- and I did great!  Blissy and I had such a good time that I hope to get to see her again soon.

The weather here has been really crazy.  One day it was 80 and the next day, it was 50.  We also had a lot of rain one week, and some of our friends had flooding in their basement.  But, it is slowly getting nice outside - which means more time outside.  YIPPPEEEE!!!!

It has also been a great month for fun with friends.  We've had play group fun; fun at the Hodgsons; fun with Kimi; and fun with NaiNai.

We have spent the weekends working in the yard.  Mommy and Daddy say I am a good supervisor, and a good helper to pick up sticks and weeds (I especially like the yellow dandelions).  On one of Daddy's days off, we went to the Botanical Gardens.  WOW!!  So many beautiful flowers.

Some of my favorite things these days: playing with bubbles, pushing my stroller in the driveway, eating JellyBelly jelly beans, pulling all the toilet paper off the roll (Mommy and Daddy are not too fond of this one though), taking off my shoes and socks (I have even learned to take off my pants too), putting on Mommy's shirts, playing with friends, playing at a park - going down the slide, having bubbles in my bath, and my favorite continues to be watching Little People videos.

Twenty Months

Christ is Risen!  He is Risen Indeed!!!

Now that I am a BIG TWENTY months old, I can do all sort of things.  I am talking lots more (Mommy keeps trying to get it on video but I get quiet when she pulls out the camera).  It seems I add a new vocabulary word every day or so.  Most things Mommy and Daddy can understand, but I also have my very own language that they cannot seem to quite get.
I love to climb the stairs (I can now go up and down) - or climb anything I can find.  I love to RUN.  Sometimes, Mommy will say, "Ready. Set. GO!" And I will take off running.
With all my new found independence comes a few challenges as well.  I now  HATE to have my diaper changed.  My parents say it is sometimes like wrestling an alligator when they have to hold me down to change a diaper.  Also, I mostly want to feed myself - I will sometimes let Mommy help me, but other times I get rather mad when she tries (she says she is just trying to help me because I have not yet mastered the whole fork/spoon thing and she would prefer not to change my clothes after every meal).

We had so much fun for Easter.  We started the morning out together with a yummy breakfast.  Then Mommy got me all dressed up in a new pretty dress (though I had to wear a turtle neck and tights with it because it was still a bit chilly outside) and we all went to church. Everybody kept saying, "He is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!" - and I thought that was pretty cool because they were talking about JEE (the way I say, "JESUS").  After my nap, the Hodgson family came over and we had an Easter Egg Hunt in the yard (the big kids hid eggs for Andrew and I in the front yard, and the daddies hid the eggs for the big kids in the back yard).  I especially like the marshmallows and jelly beans inside some of my eggs - and the grapes and crackers weren't bad either.   Then we had a BIG dinner and I ate LOTS of ham -- Mommy kept wondering where I was putting it because I ate so much.
It sure is FUN to be a big girl now, and I can hardly wait for more nice weather and more fun adventures outside!
